The island of Tambo (in Galician Island of Tambo) is a Galician island of the province of Pontevedra, located in the middle of the Ría de Pontevedra, and in its final part, between the town of Marín and the municipality of Poio, pertaining to the latter. It has an area of 28 hectares and reaches 80 meters of altitude. It is oval and has a typical pyramidal shape completely covered with trees, especially eucalyptus. To the south has a small peninsula (called O Tenlo) that seems almost an island seen from land and that counts on an old lighthouse (lighthouse of Tenlo). Tambo has two beaches joined in the northern part of the island and with three small piers.
Tambo was inhabited until the eighteenth century by people from the neighboring parish of Combarro (Poyo), who continued to work for much longer the lands of the island after leaving the small village they had established there.
