Contrary to the generalized opinion that dated this bulwark in the sixteenth century as a work of John B. Antonelli, today it is known that was built in the eighteenth century. The royal coat of arms of the house of the Bourbons dominates over the access door, which is dated in 1742, possibly the year of completion of the work. It is known that it was already being built in 1741 by a reference that appears in a letter sent to the Governor of Valencia by the mayor and Regents of Calp that asked to be fortified his town.
