El León Dormido
El Ponoig, junto con el Puig Campana, es una de las últimas estrivaciones de la Sierra de Aitana antes de sumergirse bajo el mar. Gabriel Miró llamó al Ponoig el “León Dormido”, debido a que esta montaña, vista desde Polop, aparenta tener la forma del rey de los felinos mientras descansa -cuestión de imaginación-. En cualquier caso, el Ponoig, con sus 1182 msnm. se muestra como la gran atalaya que vigila la entrada al Valle de Guadalest.
